How to ... deal with wordlists

In order to be able to speak English fluently, you have to know as many words as possible.

Yes...you'll have to study them.

Follow the steps here below, it 'll make it easier:

  1. read the title of the text: you'll have an idea of the text contents
  2. read the text paragraph per paragraph and check the words you do not know: at this stage avoid checking the words you can understand through context or the words that seem like Italian words.
  3. check the words in a dictionary: read carefully and find the correct translation for the word you need. Do not drop the pronunciation, it can help you.
  4. copy in the list in your notebook and repeat it aloud. Devote a part of your notebook to vocab.          Write down the page from which the wordlist is taken from, you'll find the word you need much  faster next time.
  5. repeat the words in the list or copy them until you know every single word. Verbs are the most important ones.
  6. organize a competition with your classmates, it will encourage you to know more.

Do not forget  useful expressions like according to (Chaucer) (secondo (Chaucer)), during the Middle Ages...
